About Brad R Lewis Photography – Nature and Wildlife Photographer – My dual passion for the outdoors and photography have led me to focus on wildlife, habitats and conservation. Many of my works are used by conservation groups and wildlife refuges to help illustrate their causes.

Birds - My passion for photography started with birds and is where I still spend most of my time. Photographing birds in flight, on foggy days, from a boat, handheld or a tripod/monopod is a challenge you quickly learn the nuances of photography and how to best utilize your equipment.

Living in the Bay Area I enjoy spending time on the water photographing shorebirds, seabirds and migratory birds. During the winter months, I frequent California's Central Valley San Luis and Merced National Wildlife Refuges for Sandhill Cranes, Snow Geese, Ross's Geese and other migratory winter birds. I also enjoy our coastal cities from Monterey to Santa Cruz area for its diversity of birds and habitats, for Hummingbirds UCSC Arboretum and Botanic Garden is a favorite.

Winter Wildlife - I am not sure why I have this desire but I truly enjoy photographing in the cold of winter. When it is -35 degrees ( Fahrenheit/Celsius are about the same at that temperature) the added challenge of not only managing your gear but your hands and body is invigorating to me. I have traveled from the Northern edge of Alaska for Polar Bears, Musk Ox and Foxes to Wyoming/Yellowstone for American Bison, Elk, Wolves, Coyotes, Foxes, Otters and Weasels to Canada for Snowy Owls, Great Gray Owls, Wolves and other wintering birds and wildlife.

Preserving and Protecting Our Wildlife - Through volunteering, monetary contributions and photo donations my wife Penny are passionate about preserving and protecting our wildlife and their habitats. We support The Nature Conservancy, Elkhorn Slough, Audubon Society, Human Society and numerous other nature and wildlife organizations.

Gear - I am using Nikon's D5 and D850 cameras with a variety of lenses and teleconverters. I post-process everything in Lightroom and rarely use Photoshop trying to keep my images looking as they appear in Nature. My wife is a Photoshop guru and often will turn my photos into fine art prints.

Sales - Please contact me directly for print and digital sales of my images. You can also find my work on Society6 and Getty Images.
