HBR - 4.6mi
Story
Wow, what a great day for a hike. After a rainy week it was a nice day with big clouds, mostly sunny and a bit muggy. All the animals were out enjoying the sun. From the beginning most the animals were good customers. Starting off with a Yellow-Billed Magpie then a Red-Tailed Hawk and finally a coyote. These are my best pictures of wildlife!!!

House Birds
Story
Yesterday after my hike I was still looking for some better bird photos to test out my new Nikon 300mm lens so i went home via the back streets in the country and there they were. A group of Turkey Vultures or Buzzards trying to get a few more minutes of sun before the storm hit. Then just down the road was an American Kestrel that was indecisive where he should be for the storm. I also had a few photos from the house before my hike.

Story
After a short week of work and travel my new Nikon 300mm f/2.8 VRII lens arrived. After a morning session of replacing my favorite pack straps, modifying my camera holder, flipping the tripod mount 180 degrees on the lens I was ready to go for a hike.
MWW and I headed out to Harvey Bear Ranch, Coyote Lake County Park, where it was a overcast day with a storm looming off the coast. There were not a lot of great photo opportunities but since I was very excited about my new lens i took the opportunity to photograph anything i could. Some good and others well not so great. My best photos of the day were of a Norther Flicker, typically they are not good clients, he was very patient with my presence and even flew towards me for an off the branch photo opportunity. All and all a good day and wow what a new lens.
